The 1st XI squad, including several players from last years U18 squad and trialists, opened the 2007/2008 pre season fixture list with an excellent workout against newly promoted Sussex County Division 1 side St Francis Rangers. This was the 1st fixture the home side had played under their new floodlights and they provided excellent opposition for The Sports, and included ex Langney Sports striker Tobi Hutchinson in their line-up.
Nathan Crabb opened the scoring for the visitors on 11 minutes when he stepped neatly inside the Rangers left back to stroke the ball under the advancing keeper. Boro struck the woodwork on 4 occasions throughout the match but Matt Crabb opened his account for the season with a ferocious shot across the face of the goal and high into the right-hand top corner on 41 minutes.
Garry & Nick made several changes in the 2nd half, starting with a complete change to the midfield and front 2, and on 66 minutes Adam Wilde buried the excellent pass from Paul Armstrong into the far right-hand bottom corner to make the score 3 - 0. With Boro making substitutions and re-substitutions the home side scored twice through their Number 12 in the final 2 minutes of the game to provide some reward for their endeavour although a slightly flattering final score of Rangers 2, Boro 3.
